A message from WDHA:

The WDHA Executive/Committee are keeping an eye on the ever-changing Covid-19 climate, and are making constantly evolving adjustments to policies and procedures for athletes, coaches, managers, umpires and families to adhere too.

WDHA is doing their best to make sure everyone stays safe, happy and healthy and can continue to play junior hockey at Warrnambool in 2020.

A special thanks to Mark Bridge and Greg Pickett for being the driving force behind this, and the army of individuals helping to implement these ambitions at the WDHA ground.

WDHA thanks the extremely flexible hockey community that have been open to changes and compliant with the recommendations and rules for Covid-19 compliance, and helping to stop the spread.

We are extremely lucky in Warrnambool to have no active COVID cases, and fingers crossed that it remains that way.

Two rounds of U14 and U16 juniors have successfully been completed over the last two weekends and we’re looking forward to another round next weekend.

The under 12’s age group had 16 energetic and enthusiastic kids running around on the field last Wednesday and are all geared up to have another hit this coming Wednesday from 4.30-5.30pm.

Now for a quick rundown of scores over the past weekend:

U14 Friday night:
The 5pm match saw Mariners take on Technicians and in a hard fought encounter. Technicians took the win 2-0.

Goals – Technicians: Lachlan Robson 1 and Alexander Stevenson 1. Mariners (nil).

The 6.30pm match saw the two Corangamite teams go head-to-head for the first time and they were evenly matched with the final score a reflection of that.

Corangamite Lakers 1 drew with Corangamite Blue 1.

Goals – Corangamite Lakers: Lily Maskell 1. Corangamite Blue: Angus Murfitt 1.

Techtonics had the bye.

U16 Saturday Morning:
The 10am matchup welcomed Portland for their second match on WDHA turf against Mariners.
By all accounts it was a hard fought game, with Portland getting the narrow win 2-1.

Goals – Portland: Gabby Conheady 2. Mariners: Conrad Negri 1.

The Midday match saw the newly split Technique teams take on each other. Technicians (0) were unable to capitalise with their shots on goal and went down to Techtonics 4.

Goals – Techtonics: Callum Bridge 2, Harry Dodson 1 and Crystyn Baldwin 1. Technicians (nil)

Thank you to all the coaches, managers, umpires and support staff for working so hard to get our junior players out of the field each week. Stay safe and healthy everyone.
