Thank you for taking the time to complete the 2025 Stand Out Cup (SOC) Umpire Expression of Interest Form. 

The SOC is an annual pre-season social event designed to celebrate diversity and inclusivity in hockey and make a stand against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia in our sport. The event has grown significantly and provides a crucial platform to raise funds and awareness for Proud 2 Play, a not-for-profit organisation that provide essential support to LGBTIQ+ community members.

Umpiring information:

The Stand Out Cup is a modified hockey event. Like previous years, we'll be taking the Hockey 5's approach and modify the rules to the SOC level we have played in previous years. These will be updated and provided to you in the lead up to the event. The matches are very easy to officiate, fun and upbeat, and do not require much movement at all for the umpire as the field is very small. The day is a social event with our umpires adding an extra layer of camaraderie on the day.

This umpiring opportunity is perfect for younger and older umpires as the games are over quickly, fields are small, and the rules are very easy to apply. There are various grades (Junior 10 - 14 years, 15 - 18 years, A - D Grade), that will allow a level of comfortability for any level of experience for an umpire.

Umpires will be paid $100 for around 5 - 6 games (+$20 if officiating a finals game) for their services on the day. 

We ask that umpires be supporters and allies on the day. This day is a celebration of inclusion and diversity in our sport and it is essential that we show support to the LGBTIQ+ community members in all areas of the game.
