2024 HC Melbourne Match Day - Volunteers EOI

The 2024 Hockey One season is quickly approaching! HC Melbourne will host 3 home rounds at Melbourne Sports Centres Parkville:

  • Saturday, 26 October (v Perth Thundersticks)
  • Friday, 1st November (v NSW Pride)
  • Friday 22nd November (v Tassie Tigers)

There is a Men's & Women's match on each of these dates. The first match commences at 6.30pm and volunteers will finish at 9.30pm. We will require them to arrive by 5.15pm for gates open at 5.30pm. 

To ensure that we put on a great show, Hockey Victoria are seeking expressions of interest for volunteers to assist us in range of roles, including (but not limited to):

  • Ticket Sales & Attendants
  • Spectator Services
  • Venue Operations Support 
  • Ball Patrol Coordinator
  • Hook in 2 Hockey Kids Support

Volunteers will receive free access to all match days they are working, snacks and water, a HC Melbourne Volunteers shirt and one item of Hockey Club Melbourne Merchandise of your choosing from the range we have on offer.

Volunteers must be 16 years or older to volunteer at the 2024 Hockey One competition.

Please note that Hockey Victoria and Hockey Australia will treat all Volunteer Applications with the upmost privacy, and will only use the information provided in the application to assess your suitability to act as a Volunteer at the 2024 Hockey One Home Matches in Melbourne unless otherwise indicated (refer to Emergency Contact).

Expression of interest close at 11.59pm on Wednesday 2nd October. 

 

All volunteers that are 18 years of age or older will be required to hold a valid Working With Children Check or VIT card.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW LONG WILL THE SHIFTS BE?
Shifts are dependent on roles, but as a general guide we will typically require volunteers to be at the venue 75 minutes before the first match commences and they can leave approximately 15 minutes after the second match concludes. So, based off the first match being at 6.30pm we would like need volunteers at the venue by 5/5.15pm and they could leave at 9.30/9.45pm.

WILL MY EXPENSES BE REIMBURSED?
Volunteers will be required to give their time voluntarily and without recompense.

WILL I GET A UNIFORM?
Volunteers will receive a HCM volunteer shirt.

WILL MEALS BE PROVIDED?
HV will provide a small meal pack and water during your shifts.

WHEN WILL I FIND OUT IF I AM REQUIRED TO BE A VOLUNTEER?
Following the deadline closing for expressions of interest, Hockey Victoria will review all applications and be in contact with you.

WHAT IF I AM NOT AVAILABLE FOR ALL THREE HOME MATCHES?
While would prefer to have volunteers that are available for all 3 home matches, we will certainly still consider applications from those that are only available for 1 or 2 of the home rounds.
