Recognition & Awards

Hockey Victoria (HV) has had a long established capacity to recognise, celebrate and honour members of the Victorian Hockey community that have generously dedicated their time and expertise for the betterment of the sport.

The levels of formal acknowledgement include: Life Membership, Award of Merit, Community Awards & Volunteer Recognition.

2018 Hockey Victoria Awards Dinner

Hockey Victoria’s annual Awards Dinner will return in 2018.  The Hockey Victoria Awards Dinner includes the inductions of HV Life Membership and Award of Merit receipients, together with presentations to players, officials, coaches and administrations from the Victorian Hockey Community.

Life Membership

Life Membership is the pinnacle award, awarded by Hockey Victoria, and recognises exceptional contributions to the sport by individuals.

Award of Merit

The Award of Merit was last awarded in 2001, and was an award of the Victorian Hockey Association. The Award of Merit is being reintroduced by Hockey Victoria, in 2017, to those that have made a commendable contribution to Hockey in Victoria.

Community Awards 

The Hockey Victoria Community Awards including the Community Club of the Year, Hookin2Hockey Club of the Year, Administrator of the Year, Community Coach of the Year and Community Official of the Year. Nominations for these awards are open for those that have demonstrating leadership and/or excellence within the current year, in a particular field, whilst upholding the values of Hockey Victoria. These Awards are presented annually at the Hockey Victoria Awards Dinner.

Volunteer Recognition

The Volunteer Recognition program was launched in 2016, as an ongoing initiative to provide all Affiliates and members of the hockey community the opportunity to identity and reward people who contribute to the sport. Affiliates can produce their own certificates to recognise and thank club volunteers for their time and effort. Hockey Victoria would like to directly acknowledge volunteers or members volunteering in the club environment for 5, 10, 15 and 20+ years. Submissions for Recognition of these milestones can be made, through the link provided on the Hockey Victoria Website Volunteer Recognition.
