Under 18 Indoor Club Championships Wrap-up

It was the Under 18s time to to hit the court for the Indoor Club Championships and what a weekend of Indoor Hockey it was!

Over the course of the weekend, the 18 teams displayed incredible speed, skills, and goal scoring prowess. There was a jaw dropping 411 goals scored across the 47 matches. Special mention must go to Samantha Love who topped the goal scoring in the Under 18 Girls with 12 goals and to Cooper Burns from Altona Hockey Club who topped the boys goal scoring table with a staggering 36 goals.

Congratulations to both Waverley and TEM (Blue) for progressing through to the Gold Medal Match in the Under 18 Girls. Waverley took the ascendency early in the match and put on a clinical display to win 5-0 and take home the Gold Medal. While in the Under 18 Boys, Camberwell progressed to the Gold Medal Match with a dramatic penalty corner goal after the siren in their Semi-Final and came up against Altona who had reached the final with a 6-2 win in their semi. Similar to the girls final, Camberwell took an early lead and were able to continue that strong start to claim a 5-3 victory. Congratulations to all four teams on not only a fantastic Tournament but two excellent Gold Medal Matches.

Thank you to all the Umpires that officiated across the course of the weekend. It is a particularly challenging task with the small courts and the play being very congested, so they should be congratulated for their efforts. Congratulations to the following four Umpires that were appointed to the Gold Medal Matches:

Under 18 Girls – Lachlan Avil & Josh May
Under 18 Boys – Iris Milham & Cameron Rutley

Thank you also to all the Technical Officials that gave up their time to make the Event possible, we are very appreciative of your efforts over the weekend.

Finally, would like to sincerely thank our Tournament Directors (Victoria Delaney and Andrew Rook) and Umpire Managers (Stephanie Thompson, Ged Grimwade and Sam Cutrale). Thank you so much for the professionalism and dedication you showed to ensure we could deliver this Event.
