Week 5 of the Indoor Club Championships commenced last Friday night (28 Feb), with the Under 14 Girls & Boys.
Under 14 Girls
There was a total of 26 matches played across the weekend at MSC Parkville and Monash University with 179 goals scored, and the leading goal scorer going to Aimee Retief from TEM Hockey Club with 17 goals.
With the top 2 teams from each of Pool A and Pool B progressing into the Semi-Final matches, it was Footscray v Waverley in SF1 and TEM v PEGS in SF2. While the rest of the teams were placed into Pool C where they played a series of cross-over matches to determine finishing positions 5-9.
In SF1, it was TEM who triumphed over PEGS, putting on a clinic in a 4-0 shutout.
In SF2, Footscray got off to a blisteringly hot start, scoring 4 goals in the first half. This was too much to overcome for Waverley, as Footscray ended up winning 4-1.
The 3rd place playoff match saw an absolute barrage of goals scored, with 6 coming in the first half, as Waverley took a 5-2 lead into the 2nd half. Waverley tacked on a couple more for good measure in the 2nd half, and secured 3rd place 7-3.
Both teams heading into the grand final were undefeated, so it was sure to be a good one. It was an incredibly tense back and forth affair, with no team able to find the back of the net as the minutes ticked down and the final buzzer sounded. In the shootout, Footscray ended up prevailing 3-1 behind goals from Isabella Bradbury, Freya Hudson & Kiara Massa, being declared Championships of the Indoor club scene in 2025.

Under 14 Boys
There was a total of 37 matches played across the three days at MSC Parkville and Monash University, with 361 goals scored, and the leading goal scorer going to Claude Wood from Yarra Hockey Club, with 21 goals.
Teams were initially split into 3 pools where they played each other once. Teams were then divided into secondary pools based on their results, with the top team from each pool progressing into Pool D to determine who would play in the Grand Final. It would end up being Doncaster and Waverley who found themselves matching up in the Grand Final, whilst Mentone finished in the 3rd spot.
Doncaster had the edge going into the final, having taken the previous match 5-3, but it would all come down to this. Doncaster wasted no time getting started, rattling off 3 unanswered goals from star duo Kryshant and Kriish Jiwa Mohan. However, Waverley’s Bopanna Acandira would claw one back off a PC before the first half, making it 3-1 heading into the 2nd. Waverley scored another quick goal in the start of the 2nd, making it 3-2 and putting some mounting pressure on Doncaster. The action was scoreless for a few minutes, until Kryshant put away another goal in the 28th minute to give himself the hattrick, Doncaster the 4-2 lead, and eventually the Championship.
