Published Fri 18 Oct 2024

Pakistani striker Rana Waheed is set to make his debut for HC Melbourne in the upcoming 2024 Liberty Hockey One League. Rana will join the team for their first home game against the Perth Thundersticks on Saturday 26th October.

A powerful left striker with a proven track record, Rana was Pakistan's leading goal scorer in the recent 2023/2024 seasons. His addition to HC Melbourne's forward line is expected to bolster the team's firepower. His speed, agility and goal-scoring ability will complement the likes of Henderson, Burns, White and Roberts.

A native of the Punjab region in Pakistan, Rana has a reputation for scoring crucial goals in high-pressure situations. His performances have often been instrumental in turning the tide for Pakistan.

Hockey Victoria CEO, Andrew Skillern, expressed his enthusiasm about Rana joining HC Melbourne. "We're thrilled to welcome Waheed Rana to our team," Skillern said. "His skills and talent, combined with his international profile will undoubtedly strengthen HC Melbourne and the league as a whole."

HC Melbourne have 3 home games this year:

  • Round 3 – Saturday, 26 October vs Perth Thundersticks
  • Round 4 – Friday, 1 November vs NSW Pride
  • Round 7 – Friday, 22 November vs Tasmania Tigers
