New development and competition opportunity for 16 and under cohort

In 2022, we are launching a new development and competition opportunity for our talented 16 and under cohort, we are mindful that the last 2 years has been extremely interrupted in terms of development opportunities for this group of athletes. Off the back of 2022’s U15 and U18 National Championship results we have acknowledged that there are some strategies we may need to employ to bridge the development gaps. The answer broadly here is more development opportunities with quality competition rather than less.
 

We have put together a very exciting Home and Away series mirroring some of the senior Hockey One series for late 2022.

These squads will operate under the H.C Melbourne banner and sit below our Development Squad which underpins the H.C Melbourne senior squad continuing to foster a long lasting and meaningful relationship with the H.C Melbourne on and off field culture and brand.

There are a series of 3 Trial Sessions before the Squads are finalised and come together for a lengthy training block where we plan on trialling a new model of tournament preparation. 1 on pitch session per week with an assortment of other upskilling opportunities in the space of Nutrition, Performance planning and Psychology, Strength and Conditioning, Leadership and General Wellbeing off pitch. HCM Senior players and coaching staff will be working closely with these teams throughout their respective preparations. All selected squad players will receive 1 G.A Ticket to the 3 Home Games for the Hockey One season.

• Wednesday 20th July: BOYS 6:30-8:30pm ASF GIRLS 6:30-8:30pm BSF
• Sunday 24th July: GIRLS 8:00-10:00am ASF BOYS 10:00-12:00pm ASF
• Sunday 31st July: BOYS 8:00-10:00am ASF GIRLS 10:00-12:00pm ASF

Please be sure to arrive 15 minutes prior to the start time to register.

Match Commitments

At this stage we are finalising the schedule, there will be 4 away games (2 Overnight Stays) and a series of Home Matches

• Saturday 22nd/Sunday 23rd October – Away Interstate
• Saturday 29th/Sunday 30th October - Away Interstate or Thursday 3rd/4th November - Away Interstate
• Thursday 10th November - Home
• Friday 18th or Saturday 19th November - Home (Bendigo)
