Hockey5s is one of three FIH recognised versions of the sport (along with 11 a side and Indoor Hockey). It is the newest version of hockey and was first played competitively in 2014 in preparation for the Nanjing Youth Olympic Games. Is has been quickly adopted by many nations in search of an outdoor short format of Hockey.
In 2023 Hockey Victoria introduced Hockey5s in a number of regional associations and first showcased the format at the Junior State Championships for under 12 participants. In 2024 Hockey Victoria will continue to host Hockey5s for under 12’s at the Junior State Championships in July and will also add a new Hockey5s Carnival to the annual event calendar. The Hockey5s Carnival will run during the June long weekend (Saturday 8th – Monday 10th June, 2024). The carnival will be open to all age groups.
