Macquarie Sports a hit again in Regional Victoria

Published Mon 12 Aug 2024

For the second year running, Macquarie Sports enabled Hockey Victoria to supply over 450 primary school aged children with a Hockey stick, ball, bucket hat and an experience they will never forget.

During the first week of August 2024, schools in the Bendigo and Ballarat areas were offered the opportunity to host a free Hockey clinic at their school, or be part of a two-hour clinic at the Hockey ground in Bendigo or Ballarat. As a result, more than 660 children in Bendigo and more than 670 children in Ballarat were introduced to Hockey for the first time, by way of a free clinic. Hockey Victoria were very thankful for again receiving the funding from Macquarie Sports to provide this amazing opportunity to school students.

Former Kookaburra Josh Simmonds and former Hockeyroo Kate Hanna were on hand to coach the clinics in the two locations, along with other local and Hockey Victoria coaches, which meant participants were given the opportunity to meet heroes of the game.

A big thank you to all the schools that participated, Hockey Central Victoria and Hockey Ballarat, and to Macquarie Sports for making it all possible.
