New Indoor facility proves a hit!

Published Mon 08 Nov 2021

We were thrilled to finally see the new Indoor Hockey Court at the State Hockey Centre in use over the weekend.

On Saturday, a group of our most talented Women and Girls played in Open Age, Under 18 and Under 15 Indoor Exhibition Matches, then on Sunday we held the equivalent matches for the Men and Boys. These were the very first matches played on the court, and it was fantastic to have over one hundred of our most talented Indoor athletes use it for the first time.

Andrew Skillern, CEO of Hockey Victoria said, “to see the court in action on Saturday was a great thrill. I have no doubt all players and officials coming to Parkville over the next 6 weeks will have an amazing indoor hockey experience.”

Despite very little Indoor Hockey being played over the last 18 months, the full-size court and high-quality surface allowed for some wonderful Hockey and plenty of goals.

The new facility is going to provide a much higher quality experience for all our Indoor Hockey participants, and we hope to see this version of the game go from strength to strength in Victoria.

Hockey Victoria is running a six-week Competition season kicking off on Monday 8th November and running through until Sunday 19th December. The new facility is being utilised all weekdays and for the full weekend every week. You can check out the fixtures here.

Early in 2022, HV will deliver our Indoor Club Championships, with those Events to be run at both the State Hockey Centre on the new court, as well as at Monash Uni (Clayton Campus).
