Indoor Club Championships Update

Over the past two days, Hockey Victoria have been assessing the current COVID situation in Victoria and have engaged with stakeholders involved in the Indoor Club Championships.

We are seeing a rising number of COVID-19 cases in Victoria. The nature of the Indoor Club Championships, whereby they are held Indoors, and people spend prolonged periods of time together at the venue makes it relatively high risk for transmission.

As such, we can provide you with the following updates for each of the Indoor Club Championships age groups:

EVENT	ACTION
Open Men & Women (Division 1)	POSTPONED and is now scheduled for 11^th – 13^th February
Under 14 Boys & Girls	POSTPONED and is now scheduled for 4^th – 6^th March
Under 18 Boys & Girls	Remain as scheduled on 18^th – 20^th February
Under 16 Boys & Girls	Remain as scheduled 25^th – 27^th February
Open Men & Women (Division 2)	POSTPONED – further update to be provided in the coming weeks
Junior Indoor Challenge (Under 12, Under 14 and Under 16)	An update will be provided in the coming weeks

By delaying the start of the Indoor Club Championships, it will give HV a little more time to see how things unfold in Victoria as we move through January and school recommences for Term 1. It will also allow us to undertake discussions with Sport & Recreation Victoria, Vic Sport and other sporting bodies that are delivering Indoor sports to ensure we are putting in place the best possible practices to minimise transmission when we do get to delivering the Events.

It is obviously disappointing to have to make this decision, but we will continue working towards delivering these Events.

We will provide an update to all clubs next week in relation the Term 1 weekly Indoor Competitions and Summer Outdoor Competitions.
