HV Launch anti-racism campaign
Published Fri 28 Jun 2024
Hockey Victoria are excited to launch their Anti-Racism media campaign in 2024. The campaign will be launched in July in the lead up to the Junior State Championships (JSC) which are being held in Bendigo and Shepparton this year.
The campaign is the result of community consultations including a member survey and discussions with out Multicultural Ambassadors. These consultations identified that that racism does occur within our sport in a wide range of clubs and situations, not just those with one predominant culture. They also show that clubs and members are willing to learn more, to better understand and reduce the prevalence of racism within our community.
Alongside the media campaign we have already begun implementing education initiatives outlined in the Action Plan as communicated to members in February 2024. The first of the education sessions were held at the annual Club Development Conference in March and were well received by committee members who attended.
Launching the campaign to coincide with the JSC has been planned to empower our youth to help be the change that we want to see in our community.
