Hockey Victoria 2021 Winter Competition Re Start.

Based on the information currently available, and assuming that community sport restrictions are eased and sport can restart from 3 September, all Hockey Victoria competitions will recommence from Friday 10 September.  Please note that competitions will recommence with or without spectators.

The key principles in making this decision were to:

• Conclude the senior and masters seasons by the 1st weekend of October at the very latest,
• Conclude the junior season by the second weekend of September school holidays,
• Provide an opportunity for as many players as possible to play as many matches (leading to modified finals format), and
• Provide a closure to 2021 Winter Season.

If, from the 2 September, the restrictions get extended for another week, and if in the week of 6 September an announcement is made that community sport can resume from 10 September, we will still recommence the season from Friday 10 September. We ask that all club administrators and coaches are notified of this intention so they can put adequate plans in place with their teams.

In case that the restrictions are extended for additional two weeks (or more) so that we can’t recommence the season from 10 September, it is our strong recommendation to cancel the remainder of the 2021 season. This will allow us to collectively focus on any possible summer or indoor hockey activities that may be able to be delivered before the end of 2021.

If we are not able to conclude the 2021 Winter Season, Premierships will not be awarded in 2021.

All competitions will recommence from the previously fixtured Round 11 matches in the Seniors and Masters/Midweek and from the Round 9 matches in the Full Field Juniors/ Round 2 Half Field.

Premier League and Reserves

• Rounds 11 and 12 will be scheduled and a top 8 knockout finals series
• Grand Final to be played Saturday 3^rd of October, 2021

Vic League 1- 3 and Reserves

• Rounds 11 and 12 will be scheduled and a top 4 finals series
• Grand Final to be played Saturday 3^rd of October, 2021

Pennant and Metro

• Rounds 11, 12 and 13 will be scheduled
• Round 13 fixtures will be updated following conclusion of Round 12 to ensure teams 1 and 2 are fixtured to play for the 2021 Premiership. This may mean their previously fixtured oppositions will play each other with all other fixtured matches remaining the same.
• Season completed by Sunday 26^th of September

Masters and Mid Week

• Rounds 11, 12 and 13 will be scheduled
• Round 13 fixtures will be updated following conclusion of Round 12 to ensure teams 1 and 2 are fixtured to play for the 2021 Premiership. This may mean their previously fixtured oppositions will play each other with all other fixtured matches remaining the same.
• Seasons completed by Monday 27^th and Wednesday 29^th September, 2021

Juniors

• Rounds 9, 10 and 11 will be scheduled
• Round 11 fixtures will be updated following conclusion of Round 9 to ensure teams 1 and 2 are fixtured to play for the 2021 Premiership. This may mean their previously fixtured oppositions will play each other with all other fixtured matches remaining the same.
• Round 11 scheduling
  • Under 14/16/18 competitions will be played on Thursday 23^rd of September in regular timeslots.
  • Under 10/12 competitions will be played on Friday 24^th September in regular timeslots.
