Hockey Australia High Performance Program to remain in Perth

Published Fri 02 Dec 2022

Hockey Victoria (HV) would like to congratulate Hockey WA on winning the bid to host the future High Performance ‘Centre of Excellence’ in Australia.

We wish them all the best.

Naturally, HV is disappointed in the result.

The selection criteria for the bid encompassed a range of requirements including world-class facilities for athletes on and off the field, administration headquarters, learning and developmental facilities, major event capabilities and funding viability.

HV were confident that Melbourne and Victoria would provide an exceptional High Performance environment and opportunities for the sport to thrive.

Hockey Victoria (HV) CEO Andrew Skillern said “I would like to acknowledge the following stakeholders who provided support on the bid and ensured it was compelling enough to reach the final stage of the process. “

“We would like to thank the Victorian State Government, Sport and Recreation Victoria, State Sports Centres Trust, the Victorian Institute of Sport, Deakin University, La Trobe University, and our members for all their support with the bid. Your contributions and collaboration were outstanding. “

HV Chairperson Shaun Dooley said “I am incredibly proud of the work of the team at Hockey Victoria, led by Andrew Skillern, that went into our bid. I also thank the stakeholders for their support over many years investing in our sport which enabled us to submit a high quality and compelling proposal. "
