HCM Hookin2Hockey Club of the Month β August winner
Published Thu 05 Sep 2024
It’s time to celebrate the junior recruitment space for the month of August – Congratulations Powerhouse St Kilda Hockey Club!
Their focus and determination to create a welcoming and family centred junior program has seen an exponential growth in parent involvement and participant enjoyment. They have had excellent retention of their juniors and growth in their u8s and u10s venue-based teams and have many kids bringing a friend!
So much success, well done, Powerhouse!
Read on about their program below.
The 2024 season has seen a monumental push from the junior team at Powerhouse St Kilda! Running 2 holiday programs in addition to their Hookin2Hockey program and U8/U10s competitions has given additional opportunities for the U10s group to continue growing.
The kids were having so much fun that they went to school and invited their friends.
Although the ever-present challenge of getting additional coaches proved difficult, the involvement of the parents and junior players taking up the mantel and learning new skills.
It has been fantastic to have ex-hockey player parents picking up their sticks once again or stepping up to the junior subcommittee to continue to grow the junior numbers. Such a wonderful way to share their love and passion for hockey with their kids.
Powerhouse has worked hard to share their vision for the future with the parents and welcomed ideas to continue this positive growth. By including the parent cohort, they secured many new volunteers for fundraising efforts such as their annual Bunnings BBQ.It’s clear that their focus on building relationships and connections between not only the participants, but the parents, will yield a flourishing Juniors Program throughout the upcoming years.
Congratulations to the Juniors Team at Powerhouse St Kilda for all your hard work to create a positive and welcoming environment for your new players and their families. Onwards and upwards!
