HC Melbourne opens applications for Head Coaching roles

Hockey Club Melbourne is seeking highly motivated and experienced Head Coaches to lead our Men’s and Women’s teams in the Hockey One League. These positions report directly to the GM – High Performance and are supported by key departmental staff, providing a structured and collaborative high-performance environment.

Role Overview

The Head Coaches will be responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction for the Hockey Club Melbourne program, with the overarching goal of optimising team development, performance and player experience throughout the Hockey One season.

Key responsibilities include:

• Designing and implementing a structured preparation program within the established parameters, ensuring athletes are physically and technically prepared for competition.
• Providing tactical and technical expertise to guide team and individual player development, both in training and during competition.
• Fostering a high-performance culture that balances competitiveness with an enjoyable and rewarding experience for players.
• Working collaboratively with High Performance staff to align coaching strategies with broader athlete development objectives.

Application Requirements

• Current CV detailing relevant experience
• Coaching accreditation level
• Comprehensive coaching experience at an elite or high-performance level
• Two professional references

            HC Melbourne Information session Mid-April  
May:  Extended Squad Selection by end of May
June:  Single Pitch session per week – Coach program dependant
July:    Trial Games - Final Squad selection end of July
July - September: Double on pitch sessions per week
September-November: Home and Away Competition Phase.
December: Finals Weekend
