HC Melbourne celebrates outgoing coaches

Published Fri 14 Mar 2025

Hockey Victoria and Hockey Club Melbourne would like to thank outgoing coaches Andrew Smith & Dan Mitchell for their services to the club. Over the last two years both coaches have spent countless hours at training, review sessions, away trips and planning dedicated to HC Melbourne’s success.

Andrew Smith departs HC Melbourne as a premiership coach and we are incredibly proud of not just the on-field success he achieved but what he brought to the group in terms of culture. His influence will undoubtedly leave a lasting legacy.

Dan Mitchell played a crucial role in developing the list through a transition phase.  While stepping down from his HC Melbourne role, Dan will remain a familiar face around the grounds. He will continue to contribute to the sport as a Premier League coach and through his involvement with the Victorian Institute of Sport (VIS).

“We are incredibly thankful for both Andrew and Dan's contributions to the HC Melbourne program," said Lachlan Anderson, High Performance General Manager at Hockey Victoria. "The dedication and hard work they put in are truly appreciated. We are confident that they will continue to make significant contributions to Hockey in Victoria in the future.”

HC Melbourne is currently in the process of interviewing candidates for the Head Coach positions of both teams. We are excited about the next phase of our journey and look forward to building on the strong foundation laid by Andrew and Dan.
