Are your excited for the 2023 Hockey One Season? We are less than 100 days away from Round 1 featuring HC Melbourne.
This October, Hockey One, Australia’s Premier Men’s and Women’s Hockey competition returns for a huge Season 3!
The season opener will kick off on Friday, October 6 where HC Melbourne take on the Tasmania Tigers down in Tassie in a double header from 6.30pm onwards.
HC Melbourne Home opener follows on the week after, Friday, 13 October, where our men and women take on Adelaide Fire live from Melbourne Sports Centre - Parkville.
We will see 7 rounds with every team playing each other once. Every team will have one bye each, with the top four teams after 7 rounds progressing to the final's series. HC Melbourne have 3 home games this year:
- Round 2 - Friday, 13 October vs Adelaide Fire
- Round 5 - Friday, 3 November vs Brisbane Blaze
- Round 7 - Friday, 17 November vs Canberra Chill
*All Friday night game are live from 6.30pm at Melbourne Sports Centre - Parkville
Features of the Hockey One League 2023 Season:
- Gender equal fixturing with a double header of matches each game with the Men's and Women's teams playing against each other.
- Includes both Australian talent, with Kookaburras and Hockeyroos players, and International flair, with guest players from overseas.
- Conversion rule' - allowing players to double down on their field goal by subsequently converting a one-on-one shoot out with the opposition goalkeeper.
- Tied match goes straight into a penalty shootout to determine a winner.
- Consistent match days with games being played on Friday night, Saturday night, and Sunday afternoon.
- Women's Grand Final rematch, NSW Pride vs Brisbane Blaze, in Round 2, Saturday, 14 October.
- Men's Grand Final rematch, NSW Pride vs Perth Thundersticks, in Round 6, Sunday, 12 November.
