Published Tue 31 May 2022

Are you a coach, official, or an umpire developer? As we're now well and truly into the Hockey season, it's important that we ensure all of our HockeyEd data is up to date!

You might have moved to a new club, sorted out a new email address (goodbye to the one you made when you were 12), or just have some more info you want to add.

HockeyEd FAQ's

What is HockeyEd?

Hockey Education is the National coach, umpire, and technical accreditation training programs.

The HockeyEd umpire and coach training programs are competency-based and are designed to reflect the modern game and the needs of hockey participants. The focus of these programs is developing practical skills and self-development, thus ensuring coaches, umpires, and technical officials are better prepared to meet the demands of the game.

The HockeyEd accreditation programs are open to those candidates who can be assessed within the Australian hockey environment. The programs are delivered in a combination of formats including online learning, practical sessions, self-development activities and workshop training.

Why do I want to renew my Hockey Education details?

Hockey Australia is transitioning into a new Coaching and Officiating Framework this year. For it, they require all HockeyEd existing members to log into their portal and update your profile details. Once completed, the access to HockeyEd will be through RevSport account, Hockey Australia is aiming to have this completed by the end of year.

For any questions, please contact hockeyed@hockey.org.au

How do I renew my Hockey Education details?

  • Log into HockeyEd Portal . For it you will need your Username or Email and password.

  • Update your profile details.

Is there a cost involved?

There is no cost involved in updating your details on your HockeyEd Account.

Who is this for?

Coaches, Umpires, and Officials who attended a workshop in the last 4 years and for those who haven’t been practically assessed.

Why is important?

Getting assessed is one of the requirements to gain any of the Coach, Umpire and Official Accreditation. If the assessment has not been done, the accreditation is not complete.

How do I organise the assessment?

Depending on the level of accreditation you are aiming for you will need to be assessed by a Level 1, Level 2 or Level 3 assessor.

  1. Contact your club Coach or Umpire Developer and check who in the club could assess you for your level 1 (free of charge). If there is no assessor available at your club:

  1. Contact Hockey Victoria on gameeducation@hockeyvictoria.org.au to find an assessor for you. This might include a small fee.

  1. For Level 2 and 3 assessments, please contact Hockey Victoria.

Is there a cost involved?

If you are getting assessed by someone accredited from your club, it will be free of cost, however, this is subject to the assessor.

If Hockey Victoria coordinates an assessor visit, there will be a travel cost involved.

I need to renew my accreditation, how do I do this?

All expired accreditations can be renewed. In Victoria, it is a requirement for all Level 1 and above accreditations to complete a practical assessment as a part of their renewal process.

To organise a practical assessment, refer to the information above.

It does need to be noted that all renewals incur a $50 fee that goes to re-establishing your accreditation for a further 4 years.
