A powerful celebration of inclusion and diversity at the 2025 Stand Out Cup
Published Tue 25 Feb 2025
The 2025 Stand Out Cup was another incredible day of vibrant costumes, a great atmosphere of friendship, music, positivity and amazing support for the LGBTIQ+ community. With some very wild Melbourne weather, the Hockey Community came together once again to show their commitment towards changing attitudes, promoting positive language and ensuring that LGBTIQ+ people feel welcome, comfortable and recognised in today’s game.
With 46 teams playing across the day, it was another truly special day. Lightning did slow down matches and throw some curve balls our way, but this didn’t stop everyone from bringing the vibes and making the event one of a kind.
Thank you once again to Proud 2 Play for being our outstanding partners on the day. We love having the team down every year.
We extend this to our guests; Hockey Victoria CEO, Andrew Skillern, Hockey Victoria Directors, Mike Trenery and Nichola Harris, Minister for Ports and Freight, Roads and Road Safety, Health Infrastructure, The Honorable. Melissa Horne, and Maribyrnong City Council Mayor, Pradeep Tiwari for all joining us on the day.
A special thank you to all our umpires who were involved on the day, we thank and appreciate you for your services. Without you, the Stand Out Cup would not run. You work so incredibly hard on the day, and we cannot thank you enough.
Thank you to Stuart Westmore for your photography work on the day. Stuart has volunteered his time year after year for the Stand Out Cup and we all love his giant group photo. Visit SKW Hockey Pics on Instagram to check out his work.
