2024 HV Competitions, Events & Special Rounds

Hockey Victoria is delighted to release some key dates and further information relating to our Competitions, Events and Special Rounds for 2024.

Events

2024 is set to be another jam-packed year again, with some highlights including the JSC returning to regional Victoria, a brand-new Hockey 5s Event for both Juniors & Seniors to be played on the June Long Weekend.

Stand Out Cup

Date: Sunday 25^th February, 2024

Location: Footscray Hockey Centre

Team entry information for this Event will be released prior to the end of this year.

Junior Country Championships

Dates: Saturday 18^th & Sunday 19^th May, 2024

Locations: Essendon Hockey Centre (Under 14 Boys & Girls), Greensborough Hockey Centre (Under 16 Boys & Girls), Melbourne Sports Centres Parkville (Under 18 Boys & Girls).

Team entry information for this Event was released in Hock-e-comms on 7^th September.

As flagged last year, from 2024 the age groups of this Event will change to align with the JSC, HA Nationals and HV Winter Competition age groups (Under 14, Under 16 and Under 18).

Senior Country Championships

Dates: Saturday 8^th to Monday 10^th June, 2024

Locations: Melbourne Sports Centres, Parkville (both Men & Women). Should team entries numbers be at a level that requires second venue, HV will source one in close proximity to MSC Parkville.

In 2024, both Regional Associations & Regional Club teams will be permitted to enter in the SCC. Metropolitan teams will not be permitted to enter.

Further information is provided in the Hock-e-comm released on 7^th September.

It should also be noted that HV will commit to delivering the 2025 Senior Country Championships in Regional Victoria, with discussions to commence early next year with Regional Associations and Local Councils.

Hockey 5’s Carnival *NEW*

In 2024, Hockey Victoria will be launching a new Hockey 5s carnival over the June Long Weekend. It will be a great opportunity for both Junior and Senior Teams to experience Hockey 5s which is a rapidly growing version of the game globally. The first FIH Hockey 5s World Cup is taking place in Oman in early 2024!

Junior State Championships

Hockey Victoria is delighted to announce Bendigo and Shepparton as hosts of the 2024 Junior State Championships.

After successfully delivering the Event in Bendigo and Shepparton in 2021, it is with great excitement we return to Regional Victoria with the support of Goulburn Valley Hockey Association, Greater Shepparton City Council, Hockey Central Vic and the City of Greater Bendigo.

BENDIGO will host the following:

• Under 14 & Under 16 Boys – Friday 5^th July to Sunday 7^th July, 2024
• Under 18 Boys & Girls – Saturday 21^st September to Monday 23^rd September

SHEPPARTON will host the following:

• Under 14 & Under 16 Girls – Friday 5^th July to Sunday 7^th July, 2024
• Under 12 Boys & Girls Hockey 5s – Wednesday 3^rd July to Thursday 4^th July, 2024

Player Nominations for the 2024 Junior State Championships will open at the start of 2024, with Under 12, Under 14 and Under 16 trails likely to be held on Sunday 21^st April, 2024. Under 18 trials are likely to be held on Sunday 14^th July, 2024.

Women & Girls Breakfast

Date: Friday 10^th May, 2024

Location: St Kilda Town Hall

Further information will be released in the new year about pricing and ticket/table sales.

Men’s Health Lunch

Date: likely to be Friday 16^th August, 2024

Location: To be confirmed

Further information will be released in the new year about pricing and ticket/table sales.

Hockey Victoria Awards Night

The 2024 HV Awards Night will again be held following the conclusion of the 2024 Winter Competition Finals Series.

Date: Friday 20^th September, 2024

Location: Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre

Special Rounds

The dates of the special rounds for 2024 will be as follows:

• Women & Girls Round – 6^th – 12^th May, 2024
• Pride Round - 17^th – 23^rd June, 2024
• Indigenous Round – 7^th – 18^th July, 2024
• Men’s Health Round – 12^th – 18^th August, 2024

As was the case in 2023, if you are not fixtured to play a home match across the above dates, but still wish to celebrate them you are more than welcome to do so in the week before or after the one listed above.

All Clubs will be contacted directly with information about medals for the special rounds in 2024.

HC Melbourne Home Matches

The 2024 Hockey One fixture is yet to be finalised, but once it is information will be distributed relating to the dates of the HC Melbourne home matches, as well as ticketing and membership information,

Keep an eye out for our new HC Melbourne Digital memberships in 2024. You will get exclusive access to content and some great HC Melbourne merchandise. If you cannot make it to any home games, this will be a great way for you to show your support for our HC Melbourne teams!

League Cup

Pre-season event for Premier League & Vic League grades – 6^th March until 30^th March. Further information has been sent directly to clubs in relation to the League Cup.
