2023 Hockey Victoria Club Development Conference

Over the weekend of Saturday 4 & Sunday 5 March 2023, Hockey Victoria (HV) will be holding its first ever Club Development conference. The Club Development Conference is a weekend aimed at providing our community with an opportunity to learn and collaborate. Sessions are free to attend and will be delivered by HV staff and external presenters. There will then be an opportunity to network with food and drink on the Saturday evening. Below is a details schedule of the conference, with some information about what you can expect from each session.

9:00am – 12:00pm	Coach & Umpire Club Developer Training The Club Developer Workshop is aimed at providing prospective Club Coach & Umpire Developers with introductory training on how to be the best developer they can be. Delivered by FIH Coach Developer Peter Wroblewski, this session will cover the key components of being a club developer, as well as providing participants with an opportunity to grow their communication and feedback skills. 9:00am – 10:00am	Junior Retention Strategies Provide insight and strategies on what drives juniors to participate in sport, how to keep them engaged pre and post a program and the key elements to get right to make sure they don’t move on to another sport. 10:00am – 12:00pm	Engaging (and Keeping) Girls in Sport Provide insight for coaches and others, of all genders and levels, to keep girls engaged and in sport through innovative techniques centred around specific themes.	Kate Thomas	Coaches that coach young women and girls. Junior Coordinators.
12:30pm – 2:30pm	Safe Hockey Officer Training As part of the recently adopted National Integrity Framework, each Club need to appoint a Safe Hockey Officer. This session will provide training to all appointed SHO’s, and give them an opportunity to ask questions.	Sam Dellamarta	The Club appointed Safe Hockey Officer.

9:00am – 10:00am	Competitions 101 This session is designed for new administrators to meet the Competitions team and get an overview of all things Competitions related, such as rules and regs, team entry/grading process, competition timelines the umpire appointment process. 10:00am – 11:00am	LEC Masterclass Provide Premier League clubs with a high-level overview of the LEC standards in place for 2023 & 2024. In addition to the overview of the standards Andrew will provide useful tips for clubs to remain on top of the LEC as a club. The Masterclass will not cover the changes to the Competition which will occur at the conclusion of the 2023 season.	Andrew Skillern	Club Presidents. Person on committee in charge of LEC.
10:00am – 12:00pm	Advancing Gender Equity Training This session will cover areas such as research into women and girls participation, overview of gender equity in sport, HV’s outlook on advancing gender equity in hockey and what the next steps for clubs are. 12:30pm – 2:30pm	Volunteering in Clubs This session will provide clubs with a more in depth understanding on the current workforce issues community sport is facing, what a decline in volunteers means for the future of our sport, how we can minimise the decline in the short term and how to best engage volunteers to become involved in sport. 2:30pm – 4:30pm	Cultural Awareness Training Build cultural capability starting with awareness of our own culture and the cultural dimensions that make a difference to communication and collaboration. Identify actionable steps that will help create welcoming and inclusive Hockey clubs that foster belonging and connection.	Narasimhan Ravi	Club inclusion ambassadors.
