2022 Stand Out Cup wrap up

Published Wed 02 Mar 2022

What a great day for such an incredible cause! The music was pumping, the atmosphere was amazing, and everyone down on the day brought a positive, fun vibe that reverberated around the venue.

We’d firstly like to thank Proud 2 Play, their CEO, Christine Granger, our special guest speaker, Lauren Foote, and their team who played on the day. The work you do to provide essential support to LGBTIQ+ community is so inspiring. We love having you down each year to educate us, promote inclusivity, and to continue the conversation.

Secondly, to the hockey community. The Stand Out Cup went to new heights in 2022 with a record number of teams entering for the day. This event is always special, but without our clubs and our community coming together and showing their support, it would not be such an amazing day. We thank all that came down to watch and participate. The Victorian Hockey Community is so passionate about inclusivity and diversity in our sport, and so supportive about standing up against Homophobia & Transphobia, it is truly moving to see. We can’t wait to see everyone in 2023!

To our hosts, Footscray Hockey Club, thank you for putting on such an outstanding event and being such accommodating hosts. You have been engaged and passionate about making this such an incredible day for all involved. We hope you enjoyed everything the Stand Out Cup encapsulates and you certainly should be proud of your efforts!

To all the staff, officials, and volunteers who helped to put this event on, we cannot thank you enough. From helping to prepare for the day, to helping on the ground, and to staying around for the pack down, your continual effort does not go unnoticed and we love the energy that you provide.

Well down to our best dressed on the day, Antonio from Brunswick C, and our spirit of the day award winner, Bubble from the Long Shots.

Congratulations to our A & B Grade Champions on the day, Team Bibs (A grade) and Essendon Hockey (B grade). You played hard, but you also played with great spirit and comradery on the day. Well done to all finalists. The final standing for A & B grade can be seen below:
