Hockey Victoria is proud to partner with The Man Cave to deliver an exclusive online session on mental wellbeing for 15-17 year old boys within the hockey community.
Our young men need a toolkit for managing their emotions now more than ever. With social isolation measures in place
and online teaching up and running, our boys are missing their mates and struggling to stay engaged with their
learning. The situation is made worse by the male stereotype and the expectation boys have internalised that they need
to be strong and show no emotion. Unfortunately, many of them will be struggling to process their emotions, find the
words to express them or know where or how to talk to someone about what's really going on.
We want to give them the toolkit that makes that all possible.
Outcomes
Boys participating in the programs will:
- Gain tools that enable them to better express their emotions
- Gain skills that strengthen their resilience
- Experience genuine and authentic connection with others
- Witness healthy and varied versions of masculinity through our facilitators
Format
Boy's will join a 60-90 minute online video meeting in groups of 6-10, with 1 teacher or wellbeing staff member required
to be present in each circle. These meetings will follow a structured and consistent format, where they will meet their
facilitators, be guided through using our key tool of a check-in before extracting out the lessons and wrapping up the
process.
Please note this event is exclusively for young men aged 15-17 years as of the 5/11/2020.
Places are limited to 20 people per session.
