Hockey Victoria are now accepting nominations for our 17 and Under HC Melbourne Futures Squad 

In 2024, HCM are again presenting our FUTURES program, in line with other States and Territories we have promoted this to the U17 cohort instead of the previous U16 age group. 

This program began back in 2022 post COVID, the inaugural U16 program was met with high praise. The teams were trained in a different model, the match play opportunities included a series of Home and Away matches lining up with the senior hockey one teams as much as possible. As always we having been making tweaks and adjustments to fit the calendar and our needs as they always evolve. 

Last years program included a series of games vs ACT Academy in Canberra and NSW Academy in Sydney whilst we welcomed The QLD team to Melbourne. 

Whilst still finalising some of our practise match opportunities, the program is shaping up to be bigger and better, with 2 overnight interstate trips including a 2 Night 3 Day mini Tournament in Canberra with ACT/QLD and NSW and a return trip to Brisbane to play the QLD Academy in conjunction with the H1 Teams trip to play Brisbane Blaze. 

Player Assessment Requirements

Below are the dates and times for each of the 3 Assessments, there will be players ommitted from the selection / identification process after each of the assessment sessions, these players will be notified by email.  

Open Player Assessment (BOYS and GIRLS)

Sunday 1st SEPTEMBER - 8-10am State Netball Hockey Centre  

BOYS Final Player Assessment 1:

Wednesday 11th September - 5-7pm State Netball Hockey Centre  

BOYS Final Player Assessment 2:

Wednesday 18th September - 7-9pm State Netball Hockey Centre 

GIRLS Final Player Assessment 1:

Wednesday 18th September - 7-9pm State Netball Hockey Centre 

GIRLS Final Player Assessment 2:

Wednesday 25th September - 7-9pm State Netball Hockey Centre 

Please be sure to arrive 15 minutes prior to the start time to register.  

AUTOMATIC ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS

Players that meet the following criteria are not required at the OPEN Player Assessment and go straight to Final Player Assessment 1.

1: Players that were selected in the 2023 HC Melbourne Futures Squads

2: Players that were selected in the 2024 U18 State and Development Teams

Age Eligibility
A player shall be defined as a player who is under 17 years or under as at the 31st December 2024. Any 18 Year olds will not be eligable. 

Players must be at least 15 to Trial 

Nomination Fee
$45 nomination fee applies

Player Nominations CLOSE
Friday 23rd August 5:00pm - Late nomintaions will have a $55 late fee added

Training Commences Monday 30th September.

Financial Commitment
Selected players will be invoiced approx - $1,800

The team costs include all training sessions, vehicle transport, flights, meals, physio equipment and accommodation, Playing shirt, socks etc.  All players must read and agree to Hockey Victoria’s Invoicing, Fee Collection & Suspension Policy to be eligible for these teams. Conflicting Commitments
Players with known conflicting commitments including other sports, work and/or holidays should put this in writing to State Teams Manager, James McCallum stateteams@hockeyvictoria.org.au prior to the Player Assessment Days commencing. 

NOTE - writing to advise that you or your athlete cannot attend a trial is not an automatic "pass".  Our advise if you are seeking selection is to attend each and every session so as to give yourself the best opportunity.
