The Hockey Victoria High Performance Team (HP) is inviting athletes interested in developing their Drag Flick skills to attend the Talend ID day.
What is Talent ID Day?
Is our new drag flick program selection event. This is available for all athletes interested in participating in any of our Drag Flick programs block in 2024.
Athletes will attend 30 min timeslots where they will be completing a 16 flick battery from head of the circle in the following order:
- 4x Top Left Corner
- 4x Top Right Corner
- 4x Bottom Left Corner
- 4x Bottom Right Corner
Talent ID Day Example:
5:00pm - Athlete warm up
5.10pm - Flick Zone 1
5.15pm - Flick Zone 2
5.20pm - Flick Zone 3
5.25pm - Flick Zone 4
There will be 6 athletes per circle at each given timeslot. Each athlete will perform 1 flick, then the next player will set up, etc. This will continue until each athlete has completed all 16 flicks.
As part of the selection process, each flick will be video recorded and speed measured. Athletes will then be ranked. Six U16’s and twelve 17+ (6 for Beginners and 6 for Advance) flickers will receive an invite to participate in the 1st Drag Flick Program BLOCK.
Athletes who participated in the 1st block will gain AUTO ENTRY for the 2nd block. If athletes decide to decline their auto entry for the 2nd block, we will then invite athletes who attended the Talent ID Day.
Talent ID Day Cost: $50 per athlete.
What if I am a Goalkeeper?
Goalkeepers don’t have to attend the Talent ID Day. If you are a goalkeeper and want to be considered to participate in any Drag Flick Program Block, please fill out this Expression of Interest form HERE.
