Today the Premier announced residents of metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell shire will return to stage 3 lockdown from midnight Wednesday for six weeks. This will clearly have a direct impact on our ability to run the Hockey Victoria 2020 Winter Season as planned.
Effective immediately Hockey Victoria will suspend all HV hockey activities and encourage clubs in metropolitan Melbourne to suspend all training activities.
We have a forum scheduled Thursday night (please note the change from Wednesday to Thursday) with our club and associations where we will work through the issues presented and listen to our affiliates. This is going to be a tough period for many families and livelihoods but as a hockey community, we will pull through.
A special thanks goes out to the tireless work of our community volunteers and we thank all the players who have been training hard to get the season going again. Unfortunately, this isn’t the news any of us wanted to hear but it’s a reality.
Further updates will be provided in the coming days and weeks.
